Shoulder Check (An #HT40 Initiative)

Shoulder Check inspires and enables young men and women to be there for each other through small acts that have big impact. Right now, 1 in 3 young adults are struggling in some way with their mental health. And as connected as we are through modern technology, more and more people report feeling alone with no one to go to when they are in need. But there is hope, because nearly every one of them say the person they would accept help from the most is a friend. That’s why Shoulder Check is working to Make Kindness a Contact Sport. It’s a commitment to checking in on each other on the daily, because we may not always know who needs a hand, but we all have a hand to give. From grassroots outreach to partnering with professional athletes - on community fields or in full capacity arenas - in high school hallways or across college campuses - Shoulder Check empowers everyone to Reach Out, Check In and Make Contact with one another. And sometimes, that's as simple as a hand on a shoulder. Together, we're working to make it just a little easier for someone to say the three hardest words there are in any language - “I Need Help” – by proving no one is ever alone, because we are all right here beside each other. Since its launch in August of 2023, Shoulder Check is already making a difference in communities nationwide, driven by thousands of young men and women raising their hands to help start the conversation.
